Our Commitment To Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and our newsletter page.

The Information We Collect:

This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on our Alternative-Read.com blog and website. On some pages, you can register to receive newsletters. The types of personal information collected at these pages are:

On some pages, you can submit information about other people. For example, if a publisher or publicist requiring a review using our “Review Submission Form”, you will need to submit either your own or the author's address. In this circumstance, the types of personal information collected are:

The Way We Use Information:

We use the information you provide about yourself when requesting to be on our newsletter list or you leave a message in our guest book to keep you updated about what is going on at AR. We do not share this information with outside parties.

Nor do we share information you provide about someone else with outside parties.

We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive, and to add to our newsletter/newsflash list. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

If you are also a member of our Yahoo group, we also keep a note of all our members email addresses in case our account is deleted for any reason, as has happened to many other groups. This is just a precaution, in case we need to get in touch and inform you of our new Yahoo group.

Occasionally we will send out flyers, or cards for promotional purposes. These will only be sent out to authors/publishers/publicists who have supplied their address (not required in all instances) on the book submission forms.

Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses. With both the Yahoo group and the Newsletters, there are opt-out features.

Our Commitment To Data Security:

In all honesty, we hardly collect anything, but what is described above. However, in order to maintain data accuracy, prevent unauthorised access and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Our Commitment To Children's Privacy:

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 16, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 16. 16 being the age of consent in England.
