I was born, I'm still here.
Okay … always wanted to do that in a bio. Now that it's out of my system ...
P.L. Blair was born and grew up in Tyler, Texas; lived 10 years in the Corpus Christi/Rockport area before moving to Sheridan, Wyo., in the mid-1980s. She returned to Rockport in 2008 to be closer to family, but she continues to spend summers in Sheridan.
She worked more than 30 years as a newspaper reporter before launching her career as a novelist with Shadow Path in 2007.
In addition to her human family, Blair shares her life with two basset hounds, a longhaired dachshund and two cats – all rescued.
Words to Live By
It's too soon to panic. - My constant mantra
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
Fantasy/detective novels – four published to date in my Portals series. The series is based on the concept that elves, wizards, trolls, pixies, hobgoblins and all the other creatures of our mythology and folklore actually exist in a world parallel to our own but separated by gateways – the Portals.
In ancient times, the Portals were open, allowing free contact between our worlds. About a thousand or so years ago, Wizards fearing the consequences of such contact forced the Portals to close. But now the gateways are open again …
My main characters – human Kat Morales and elf Tevis Mac Leod – are detectives with the Corpus Christi, Texas, police department. Together, and with their allies led by the wizard Arvandus, they solve crimes caused by the misuse of Magic.
Kat and Tevis discover that a trail of murders leads to Tevis' past – and to the former lover, now a necromancer, who wants to see Tevis dead.
Tlaloc, a being worshiped by the Aztecs as a god of storms, rain, fertility and virulent diseases, has come back to the humans' world with an ultimatum: Restore his worship, complete with human sacrifices, or he will call up a mega-hurricane to destroy the Texas coast. Kat, Tevis and their allies are in a race against time, and between worlds, to find Tlaloc – and stop him – before it's too late.
Born without a soul, the creature is a psychic vampire, seducing women then leading them to kill themselves so he can feed on their life force as they die. Kat and Tevis must stop him before he kills again – and before Kat becomes his next victim.
When a band of nymphs and satyrs rob a bank in Rockport, Texas, Kat, Tevis and their allies are plunged into a battle of wits and magic to save the most magical woodlands on the Texas coast. Because if the woodlands are destroyed, not just satyrs and a herd of unicorns will be left homeless. A wyvern will also be released. It will be hungry. And its favored food is … humans.
Coming soon … A Plague of Leprechauns. (no image)
Kat, Tevis and their friends are caught between a band of Leprechauns in search of their stolen gold … and the wizard who stole it and will kill to keep it.
